NSC Mourns Loss of Mary Nutter

It is with a heavy heart that I share the following information with you. Many of you are already aware that Mary Nutter, the president of National Sports Clinics, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on July 25 while vacationing in Colorado. Words simply cannot describe the shock and sadness felt by Mary’s family and friends. Her obituary is available online.

As Mary’s business partner for 25 years, it was a privilege and honor to work along side her. Mary’s honesty, integrity, wisdom, kindness, patience, strength, sense of humor, enthusiasm and appreciation for life allowed her to fully embrace and enjoy every day and value those she encountered. She left every situation better than she found it and inspired many others to do the same.

Mary devoted much of her life to providing opportunities for softball coaches to learn and grow through the National Softball Coaches Clinics. Our shared mission has been to help softball coaches at all levels – from the dad who volunteers to coach his daughter’s team, to the high school state champion coach or travel team national champion coach – receive quality instruction from people who are knowledgeable and passionate about our sport.

Those efforts will continue through National Sports Clinics. With the support and encouragement of countless colleagues, coaches, family and friends, we are committed to keeping Mary’s legacy alive and honoring her wishes by continuing what was started in 1987.
While the void left by Mary’s absence will never be filled, our clinics will continue to be about our participants, speakers and exhibitors and providing them with a positive experience. We will do our best to make the transition as smooth as possible and will maintain the same values that have guided National Sports Clinics for 25 years.

When the 2011-12 National Softball Coaches Clinics concluded and many of you took to the softball diamonds, we began work to bring our website up to date and make it easier for all of you to navigate and use. The launch of our new look has been in the works for months.
We anticipated that it would be an exciting time for National Sports Clinics and provide new and more efficient ways to interact with all of you. As you might imagine, this move is now bittersweet. Mary was very pleased with the progress and would be happy with the end result. The new look will launch in the very near future and we look forward to sharing it with you.

On behalf of Mary’s entire family and many friends, thank you to all who have offered your condolences, prayers and support.
To honor Mary’s life and to continue to make a difference in the lives of others, the Mary Nutter Memorial Charitable Foundation has been established. Anyone wishing to make a contribution may do so online or send a check or money order (made out to Mary Nutter Memorial Charitable Fund) to: GKCCF c/o Mary Nutter Memorial Charitable Fund, 1055 Broadway, Suite 130, Kansas City, MO 64105.
